Victoria Messick

Dear Rileigh & Raylee Angel Ride Foundation,
The day Victoria was born on March 10, 2008, we already knew that she would face open heart surgery at 3 to 4 months of age. Like many children born with Downʼs Syndrome, Victoria was born with several heart defects. When her condition worsened on May 7th, her surgery was imminent. As we waited that Wednesday afternoon at USA Childrenʼs & Womenʼs Hospital for the jet to UAB to arrive, the phone call we received informing us of the Foundationʼs gift was a huge answer to prayer. Victoria had her heart surgery on May 13th at UAB and on May 27th we brought our little angel home. The surgeons and cardiologists have given Victoria wonderful reports. They say her heart looks “beautiful”. While some leakage around heart valves are expected to be “moderate” after reconstructive heart surgery, Victoriaʼs leakage remains “mild”. Praise the Lord! We now have several therapist with an “Early Intervention Program” that visit our home equipping us with exercises to help Victoria increase her physical development. Sheʼs doing wonderfully! These words will be inadequate to express our heartfelt appreciation for your generous financial support during Victoriaʼs heart surgery at UAB in Birmingham. Because of your support, we were able to focus our entire attention onto our precious little girl during this critical time in her life. Please pass these grateful words along to those who financially support this terrific program. May they always be reminded of the emotional and physical difference their support makes.

May God Bless You !
Mark & Heather Messick,
Elyssa, Natalie & Victoria
