Dear Rileigh and Raylee Angel Ride Foundation,
My name is Katelynn Knowles. I am now 12 years old, almost 13.
When I was in kindergarden, just 6 years old, I started suffering from severe headaches. We went to my doctor and I was sent home on Tylenol. Then just 6 months later the pains grew and they were so severe I was missing a lot of school. We went back to the doctor and he said "I don't understand. Why are these headaches happening so often on a girl so young?". He also referred me to Texas Children’s Hospital. They accepted the challenge. We headed to Houston, Texas. My school at the time was fundraising for me. After 6 months in Texas, no luck. I was sent home on Morphine and they gave me two years to live. I celebrated my 8th birthday in Texas. My family said, "NO!!! This is not the right answer. What are our other choices?". Back to the doctor. He referred me to, Boston’s Children’s Hospital, they refused to treat me. Then he referred me to Johns Hopkins Medical Center. Dr. Jallo said, "Bring her up right away, I've done this surgery four times before, I can fix it." Then we found out about Rileigh and Raylee Angel Ride Foundation. THANK GOODNESS!!!! After we found out about the Angel Ride, we headed north to Baltimore, Maryland. I had surgery in March of 2004. Now, after being given 2 years to live at the age of 8, I am about to celebrate my 13th birthday. If it wasn't for the Rileigh and Raylee Angel Ride, I would not be here today, chewing gum and typing this letter. I just wanted to thank EVERYONE at the Rileigh and Raylee Angel Ride Foundation, for your love, help, and support through this tough time that we have went through. Thank you, my family and I really appreciate it!
